Ode to Gelous! And some exciting news!

Okay, I have two things I need to share today, before it changes after hours of housework (I always complain about housework, but a semester of T.A.'ing and grad school left my house in SHAMBLES).

First of all, I would like to give a shout out the to the nail care product Gelous. I've heard many good things about this as a nail strengthener and topcoat, but I have now experienced the awesomeness.

This mani was posted in my Try it on Tuesday post from the other day. Now, I actually did the mani Monday afternoon with Fingerpaints Iconic Orange and Color Club Turn the Other Chic. Tuesday night, my niece wanted to see the China Glaze white crackle I had just gotten, so I told her I'd wear it, But there were NO chips, and for me that's a lot considering I am the mani annihilator! It is now THURSDAY morning, and as you can see not a SINGLE chip, just the slightest of tip wear! I used Gelous as a base and top coat, with China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat on top of it.

Now, exciting new!!!!

I GOT FLOAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will MOST DEFINITELY be seeing a blog post the day that comes in!!

Try it on Tuesday! Iconic Orange and Turn the other Chic

Hello, lovelies! I'm slowly getting back into my blogging habit, especially when I have something fun to talk about :-) My fellow blogger Jill at Jilltastic Nail Design (also found via her Facebook page) has been hosting Try it on Tuesday, where you wear something you've had that is unworn. WELL, I've got a few of those kickin' around as you may know, with last weeks feature of Gaga for Green and Pirouette my Whistle :-).

This week I felt like something BRIGHT. I came across my Finger Paints Iconic Orange, which I technically have tried on for a dupe-finder post. But I have never done a full mani with it, and it's a VERY bright orange, as you will see. But to make sure I am truly trying something on for the first time, I did a coat of Color Club Turn the Other Chic from their 2010 French collection. And here are the results!:

I'll start with what's on top (yes, I know that is backwards, roll with me here!): Color Club Turn the Other Chic is an iridescent color changing and gold glitter in a tangerine orange jelly base. Very sheer on it's own, but one coat on top of another color is FABULOUS, especially a bright color such as iconic orange! You don't notice the orange base to the glitter as much when it's over such a bright orange, but the orange jelly makes the glitter look more golden in the right light.

I have discussed Iconic Orange before, in the post linked above. A true neon orange, opaque in two coats and nearly glow-in-the-dark, hehe.

I love trying on new things, I'll hopefully be posting more!

Fan Picked and Try it on Tuesday!

So I ended up a little MIA last week, around the time I posted on my Facebook page that I would do the mani requested by my fans. Well, at that time the most picked was Orly Space Cadet. So without further ado, I will show you some pictures and talk a little about the polish!

Okay, so Space Cadet came out...in the Fall of 2010, I believe? It is one of the COOLEST duochrome shimmery polishes I have ever laid eyes on. It goes from purple to bronze to green to gold, but instead of a sheen like most duochromes, it's more of a microglitter. A little on the thin side, this is two coats and it could have really used three (plus I do have a little shrinkage from my CG Fast Forward Topcoat). But overall, this is one of the coolest polishes EVAR.

NOW, onto blog post part 2:

Jilltastic Nail Design is hosting "Try it on Tuesday," where people post pictures of polishes they've had, but haven't used yet. Well, I had the perfect color for this Tuesday!

Here we have China Glaze Gaga for Green, with OPI Pirou-ette My Whistle. I've had the green from probably a month now, but never had the chance to wear it. The OPI I just got at Ulta the other day, but it was still untried until today!

Gaga for Green is from the Electropop collection from this past spring, so it doesn't have the summer vibe I was looking for. But it's a beautiful green creme, almost a minty lime green. The formula was alright, a little thin and streaky. But I got it pretty smooth in two coats, three may have been better.

Pirou-ette My Whistle is from OPI's NYC Ballet Collection from this past spring, as well. Such a PRETTY glitter! It's got tiny silver glitter and a white-ish platinum hex glitter throughout. The hex glitter was a little hard to get out, but it worked well enough with a little maneuvering.

So I tried TWO polishes for Try it On Tuesday, and it was a fantabulous combination!

Nail Fun...more Glitter Crackle!

Hello hello! So I did this mani...Sunday night I believe? And I never had the chance to get the pictures up. But I had mentioned on my Facebook page (you can click here to see it!) that I was wearing glitter crackle. And I had a couple questions about it, I loved the combo I did, so I took pictures and want to share!

Here I used Wet 'n Wild Through the Grapevine as a base, with China Glaze Beam Me Up glitter crackle.  You can see the cracks ARE pretty distinct, and large like using a thick coat of a single color crackle, even though this is a thinner coat of glitter crackle. The purple base was surprisingly easy to work with, as well, opaque in two coats with little to no streaking!

Gotta get to work for now, enjoy!

NOTD (or night!): OPI Swimsuit...Nailed It!

Wow, I haven't posted a BLOG post in weeks!! I got caught up in the 31 Day Challenge, check out my Facebook page, there's a 31 Day Challenge album with all the pics. I've also put too much emphasis on Facebook and not enough on my actual blog, I'm such a bad nail polish blogger!!!!

So now that I've had some freedom with my nails and a little time, I've picked up some polishes along the way. One I found for pretty cheap at Ulta the other day was OPI's Swimsuit...Nailed It!! It's a VERY pretty royal blue with what looks like some type of micro-shimmer, giving it a foil-like metallic look. OPI's formula is generally very easy to work with, this being no exception. Two coats to full opacity. Ovearll, LOVE the color and the polish itself!  The pictures get progressively clearer, I promise!

So those were my nails for this evening, I had a church event that I wanted to look presentable for, and thought this color wasn't as OUTRAGEOUS as I may go, but not boring, either!! So it's a short and sweet post for the night.

Future posts:
-Current swatches!
-Polish list!
-Wish list!

Stay tuned!!
